Review- ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector
With Azmu turning two in a couple of months, I am keen to start her potty training soon. With her ability to give positive behavioural signs about having bowel movements and demonstrating some independence such as putting on shoes, I have a feeling she is going to be ready for this big milestone soon. This ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector has come in at just the right time, allowing me to get a head start.
1. 100% Waterproof
Upon removing the packaging, what I first notice about the ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector is the soft texture of the top layer. Yes, it is wonderfully gentle for a toddler to sleep on but surely, this can’t be waterproof, right? It was time to think like a toddler and carry out a few tests.
ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector claims to be ”100% waterproof against bodily fluids, perspiration, urine and accidental spills”. I asked Azmu to pour some water from her bottle on the ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector and see the results for myself.
As you can see, the water droplets just sit on the top layer, and they stay so even after a good 10 minutes. After wiping the water away, the top layer feels just slightly wet and there is definitely no water soaking through that top layer.
2. Polyurethane Layer
The second thing I was expecting a waterproof mattress protector is to have some sort of noisy plastic sheet inserted in between layers, yet, I was pleasantly surprised at how the ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector made no ‘squeaky’ sounds when Azmu would toss and turn over it. This is thanks to the Polyurethane layer right under the top cotton layer, which claims to also act as an anti-allergy barrier. A big thumbs up!
3. Machine Washable
Ofcourse I had to wash the ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector to complete my little experiment, so I popped it into my front loading washing machine. I noticed that even after the wash and leaving it to dry on the drying rack, there was no shrinkage and the quality of the cotton layer did not alter. I am assuming Azmu will have lots of ‘accidents’ during her potty-training and I will be washing the ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector more often, therefore hope the softness and the elasticity does not change.
• The ClevaBed Waterproof Mattress Protector is antibacterial treated to keep it fresh and clean.
• The elasticated skirt is a perfect fit for the mattress and stays in place, despite Azmu tossing in it all night.
• It is available in various sizes, ranging from a standard Crib size of 90cm x 40cm to a King Bed size of 150cm x 200 cm, making it perfect for the co-sleepers too.
• Winner of the Bizzie Baby 2012-2013 Gold Award and Mother & Baby 2014 Gold Award. Hence, ensuring that this is a product trusted by many.
